Hi there. For me it took just over a week and then I felt a hole lot better. I recovered really well and I think it was only the 3rd day when I was actually able to eat a normal meal (although a much smaller portion) You just have to drink water as regularly as possible because if you let your throat go dry the pain will worsen. Drinking regularly keeps the scabbing moist. I even would go on small walks just to get some fresh air to try to feel normal. The first few days its best to rest and not go any where as you don’t want to get ill from something some one else has.
Keep yourself as positive as possible and do things to distract you, try to avoid yogurt because it can create mucus and stick to the back of your throat, jelly and soup is good though obviously anything hot let it cool down quite a bit before you try to eat it.
